Occasionally we’ll have brainstorming meetings during which we come up with lots and lots and lots of ideas about how to spread the word about our books. (“Posters! Postcards! Fun foldy-out thingies! Look under your chair, a garden for EVERYBODY!”) Then, after our brainstorm, we buckle down to the slightly less fun task of deciding what is actually feasible. (“No, I’m sorry, giving everyone in the world a garden is outside of the realm of possibility. Plus, it wouldn’t fit under a chair.”)
The most recent Fun Idea involves helping you, our readers, to get your Valentine’s Day cards out in time. What? You haven’t been thinking about Valentine’s Day? Well, that’s OK, because we’ve got your horticultural valentines covered. Download this PDF and you’ll find four horticulture-themed valentines that fit tidily on one 8.5 x 11 inch sheet of paper. Just print them out (on cardstock if you want a more substantial valentine), cut them up, and pass them along to your horticulture friends. (Or your friends who love puns, as long as you don’t have to explain what a hellebore is.)
And if you don’t have enough horticulturally inclined friends, I encourage you to go check us out on our Facebook page — there you will find gardening kindred spirits to last a lifetime.
The marriage of horticulture, puns, and sappy cards has never looked so good.
Here they are individually if you’d rather go that route. (The individual cards aren’t print quality, and are more appropriate for email sending.)
